Banyuls Grand Cru 2014, Adrien Cazes
History
With the 2014 Adrien Cazes cuvée, Bruno Cazes pays tribute to the new generation of this historic house, founded in 1895. The estate, a pioneer in organic and biodynamic viticulture in Roussillon, works with old vines over 40 years old, rooted on schistous hills overlooking the Mediterranean. This steep, sun-drenched terroir produces exceptional Banyuls Grand Cru, natural sweet wines with international prestige.
Vinification
Composed of 80% Grenache Noir and 20% Grenache Gris, this Banyuls Grand Cru is produced according to the strictest rules of the appellation. The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then undergo a three-week maceration with remontage, followed by traditional mutage. Micro-oxidative aging in oak casks lasts several years, giving this vintage greater depth compared to the 2015.
Tasting Notes
Its dark mahogany-hued color announces a complex nose: dried fruits, nuts, brandied prunes, with an elegant oxidative evolution. On the palate, the texture is broad and velvety, balancing richness with freshness. Perfect with blue cheese, a 10–12 month-aged Comté, or as a digestif with chocolate-covered orange peel.
