Our Spanish Wines

Are you looking for a Spanish wine that embodies the warmth of the south, the authenticity of a terroir, and the richness of a millennia-old wine culture? Welcome to our selection of great Spanish wines, red and white, from Rioja classics to the unexpected delights of Jumilla. Our collection takes you to the heart of Spain's finest wine terroirs.

Spain, land of grape varieties and diversity

Spain is the world's 3rd largest wine producer and first in vineyard area. It's a mosaic of terroirs, climates, and indigenous grape varieties. Here are the most emblematic:

Tempranillo: the king of Spanish red wines. Found in Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and La Mancha. It produces elegant wines with aromas of red fruits, spices, and sometimes leather or tobacco.

Garnacha (Grenache): full-bodied and solar, it's part of many wines from the northeast of the country.

Albariño: the star of Spanish white wines. Typical of Rías Baixas, it seduces with its freshness, minerality, and notes of white fruits.

Viura (or Macabeo): flagship grape of Rioja whites.

Monastrell (or Mourvèdre): powerful and generous, found in southeastern wines (Jumilla, Yecla, Bullas).

Essential Spanish wine regions

Rioja: elegance of age-worthy reds

Rioja is undoubtedly Spain's most famous appellation. It produces some of the country's finest red wines, often aged for long periods. The designations Crianza, Reserva, or Gran Reserva indicate the level of aging and intensity:

Crianza: minimum 2 years aging, including 1 year in oak barrels.
Reserva: minimum 3 years aging, including 1 year in barrels and 6 months in bottle.
Gran Reserva: minimum 5 years, including 2 years in barrels and 2 years in bottle.

These levels guarantee more complex aromatic profiles, with notes of noble wood, leather, spices, and controlled evolution. Among the reference estates: La Rioja Alta, Marqués de Murrieta, Gómez Cruzado.

Ribera del Duero: power at altitude

This region in Castile and León produces more concentrated and structured wines, also based on Tempranillo (called Tinto Fino here). Ideal for lovers of great age-worthy reds, this is where some of Spain's most prestigious wines are produced. Emblematic estates: Vega Sicilia, Pingus, Aalto.

Rías Baixas: marine freshness in white

This is the kingdom of Albariño. Spanish white wines from this coastal region are crisp, saline, perfect with seafood or Asian cuisine.

Catalonia: the kingdom of Cava

Birthplace of Cava, sparkling wine made using the traditional method, Catalonia is also a land of expressive reds (Penedès) and digestible whites.

Andalusia: lands of oxidative wines

Home to the mythical Sherry wines, with a unique aromatic palette ranging from dry saline (Fino, Manzanilla) to sweet liqueur (Pedro Ximénez). A unique experience in the wine world.

Jumilla and Murcia: the suns of the south

In these warmer regions, Monastrell expresses all its generosity: round, deep wines with silky structure.

Our emblematic estates

Gómez Cruzado: founded in 1886 in Haro, in the heart of Rioja Alta, this century-old house embodies the classic elegance of Spanish wine. It's often used in oenology courses to illustrate the subtleties of Tempranillo. Now owned by the Baños family, it perpetuates a precise style, blending tradition and finesse.

Bodegas Izadi: established in Villabuena de Álava, this house was born in 1987 under the impetus of Gonzalo Antón. With a gastronomic focus from its beginnings, Izadi has established itself in the finest restaurants. With a modern and quality vision, it's now part of the Artevino group.

Bodegas Olivares: in Jumilla, this family bodega has been celebrating Monastrell since the 1930s. A reference for sweet red wines since 1998, it also produces intense dry cuvées, like the iconic Altos de la Hoya.

With these estates, Vinodelice offers you an immersion into Spanish viticulture, between roots and renewal, rigor and sunshine.
