History
Founded in 1895 in Rivesaltes, Maison Cazes is today one of the great names of Roussillon. With this Cuvée Aimé Cazes 1980, the estate pays tribute to its family heritage and over a century of expertise in crafting amber Vins Doux Naturels.
Vinification
Made from a blend of Grenache Gris (70%), Grenache Blanc (20%), and Macabeu (10%), the grapes were harvested at full maturity, destemmed, and lightly crushed before pressing. Mutage preserved the natural sugars of the grapes. The wine then aged for nearly forty years in oak casks, developing a uniquely rich aromatic profile.
Tasting Notes
The amber-colored robe with copper highlights opens onto a complex nose of dried fruits, mocha, and toasted notes. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and generous, combining intensity and elegance, with a long, persistent finish on noble rancio. Perfect as a digestif, this Rivesaltes pairs wonderfully with orangettes, chocolate desserts, or aged cheeses. A beloved cuvée among enthusiasts (average 4.5/5 on Vivino), this vintage is sure to captivate collectors seeking wines full of emotion.

France

Forty years of aging for a wine that doesn't tell the story of the past... but elevates it in your glass.
