History
From the unique terroir of Roussillon, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, this 1993 Rivesaltes Ambré from Arnaud de Villeneuve tells the story of over 30 years of patience. The old vines of White Grenache, Macabeo, and Grey Grenache are rooted in compact red and limestone soils—low in fertility but rich in character. Certified Vignerons Engagés, the house has been practicing sustainable, collective viticulture since 1909, staying true to the spirit of Roussillon.
Vinification
Hand-harvested, direct pressing, mutage on the must, followed by long aging in concrete tanks, large casks, and barrels: every step is designed to preserve balance and aromatic richness. Time has shaped this 1993 vintage, giving it remarkable complexity and depth, hallmarks of great Rivesaltes Ambrés.
Tasting Notes
The amber color with orange highlights precedes a complex nose of dried fruits, dates, figs, blond tobacco, and mild spices. On the palate, rich and full-bodied, it combines woody notes reminiscent of cognac barrels with refined aromas of vanilla and candied fruits. Ideal served at 15°C with foie gras, orange cake, or honey pastries. Awarded numerous distinctions, including a Double Gold at the Grenaches du Monde 2024 and 1 star in the Guide Hachette 2025.
