The Story
At the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Baron Gaston Legrand, founded in Lannepax over a century ago, perpetuates the art of vintage eaux-de-vie. This 2005 vintage perfectly embodies the elegance of the Gascon terroir: a spirit patiently aged in oak barrels for several decades, where time has chiseled every nuance. Today, the Lhéraud family watches over this living heritage, a symbol of rare and timeless expertise.
The Vinification
This 2005 vintage is the result of traditional distillation in an Armagnac still, followed by patient aging in Gascon oak barrels. The unique terroir of the sables fauves (tawny sands) imparts its finesse and structure to this eau-de-vie. The slow interaction with the wood has allowed its aromatic richness to develop while preserving a remarkable freshness for this vintage.
The Tasting
This Bas Armagnac 2005 captivates with a powerful nose, releasing aromas of spice butter and dried fruits. The attack on the palate is frank (direct) and perfectly balanced, supported by rich and pronounced tannins. It is a subtle, elegant, and aromatic eau-de-vie that surprises with its freshness and remarkable length. The finish opens with crisp tannins, making for a refined and harmonious tasting experience. A superb gift for a birthday or celebration.

France
Patricio - Local Nose
A very beautiful Armagnac, both powerful on the nose and of great finesse on the palate. The finish is superb. Very happy with this purchase.
