History
The NSCR (Nouvelle Société de la Côte Radieuse), founded in 2006 in Rivesaltes, specializes in preserving and showcasing old vintages of Vins Doux Naturels from Roussillon. Through rare cuvées, it highlights the exceptional heritage of Maury, an iconic appellation in the Pyrénées-Orientales, renowned for its powerful, long-aging wines.
Vinification
Made predominantly from Grenache Noir grown on the schist and marl soils of Maury, this 1970 vintage is the result of mutage on the grapes, preserving the natural sugars of the fruit. After prolonged maceration, the wine aged in old foudres and demijohns, gradually developing refined oxidative notes. Over fifty years of aging have shaped a wine that is both rich and exceptionally elegant.
Tasting Notes
Its dark, brick-hued color announces the complexity of a wine at full maturity. The nose opens with aromas of walnut, chocolate, and coffee, lifted by black cherry and candied raspberry. On the palate, it is broad and silky, combining warmth and balance, with a luscious thread of figs, dried fruits, and cocoa. A wine for meditation, ideal with a dark chocolate cake, aged blue cheeses, or simply to be savored on its own, reflecting half a century of history.
