The Story
Founded over a century ago in Lannepax, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Baron Gaston Legrand embodies the noblest soul of Gascony. This 1949 vintage, hand-distilled and aged for nearly a century in oak barrels, bears witness to an unaltered expertise. Since 1998, the Lhéraud family has perpetuated this rare heritage, safeguarding a collection of historic vintages that make every bottle a true piece of history.
The Vinification
Sourced from the Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Baco Blanc grape varieties, this Vieil Armagnac was distilled according to the traditional low-proof method, then aged extensively in oak barrels. Natural micro-oxygenation has softened the alcohol and concentrated the aromas, developing a harmonious and balanced structure. Aging in wood has imparted vanilla, woody, and slightly spicy notes, enriching the aromatic profile typical of great Bas-Armagnacs.
The Tasting
The Vieil Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 1949 opens with an elegant nose of candied prune, dried fruits, and honey, enriched with touches of vanilla and caramel. On the palate, the texture is ample/full and velvety, with controlled roundness and remarkable aromatic complexity. The finish, long and persistent, reveals the full nobility of this historic vintage, a symbol of the exceptional heritage of Maison Baron Gaston Legrand.

France
