History
In the heart of Baixas, the Dom Brial cooperative has been cultivating the art of great Vins Doux Naturels since 1923. With this 1959 vintage, aged for over half a century, they have produced an emblematic Grande Réserve. This true collector’s piece is part of the prestigious "9" series, representing the pinnacle of Roussillon winemaking.
Vinification
Made from White Grenache, Grey Grenache, and Macabeu, the wine was crafted following pure tradition: direct pressing, fortification (mutage) during fermentation, and then a marathon oxidative aging process in ancient oak vats. This aging, spanning several decades, has sculpted a rare aromatic depth defined by noble rancio.
Tasting Notes
Its topaz robe with amber highlights leads into a voluptuous palate. The nose, both subtle and intense, reveals notes of walnut and elegant rancio. The mouthfeel is liqueur-like and refined, expressing flavors of bitter orange, candied tangerine, and quince, culminating in a finish of extraordinary length.

France
Bruno Cazes - Local Nose
1959 represents liqueur-like voluptuousness at its peak: candied tangerine, quince, walnut… a journey beyond time.
