DESCRIPTION
roduced from south-facing slopes on an exceptional rocky fault, this 2013 Morgon Les Roches from Château du Chatelard reveals all the power and authenticity of the Villié-Morgon terroir. Cultivated on soils rich in schist, quartz, and gneiss, this emblematic Beaujolais cru offers a noble and intense expression of the Gamay grape variety.
On the nose, a generous bouquet of black and red fruits intertwines with subtle spicy notes characteristic of the terroir. On the palate, the attack is clean and precise, revealing ripe fruit flavors supported by rich yet supple tannins that give the wine a remarkable structure and excellent length.
This full-bodied and powerful Morgon, partially aged (60%) in oak barrels, pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, coq au vin, or aged cheeses. Its aging potential of 5 to 8 years will allow it to further develop its aromatic complexity.
An exceptional wine for lovers of authentic and expressive Beaujolais crus, faithfully reflecting the typicity of its rocky terroir.
REGION
Beaujolais
France
Just south of Burgundy, Beaujolais is a wine region with a semi continental climate suited to fresh, fruity, vibrant red wines. Its signature grape, Gamay, shows remarkable purity and liveliness here, from easy drinking cuvées to the deeper expressions of the crus.
The region has ten prestigious crus, each with its own personality: Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chénas, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin à Vent, Régnié and Saint Amour. Names that ring a bell for lovers of generous red wines combining freshness, finesse and character.
