REGION

Stellenbosch

South Africa

Stellenbosch is undoubtedly South Africa’s most prestigious wine region. Located in the coastal region of the Western Cape, east of Cape Town, it enjoys a Mediterranean climate tempered by sea breezes and sheltered by surrounding mountains. Its varied terroir – granite, shale, and sandy soils – allows for the production of both powerful red wines and elegant whites.

While Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends (with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) have built its reputation, Stellenbosch is also renowned for its refined Chenin Blancs, distinctive Chardonnays, and expressive Syrahs. Home to many iconic estates, this appellation remains a showcase of South African winemaking expertise.

Complex, Textural, and Utterly Unique

Earthy and spicy, with dark fruit, cured meat, and subtle floral notes. Silky tannins and a persistent finish make this a wine for thoughtful sipping and food pairing alike.

A Rare Mourvèdre with Elegance and Edge

Smoky blackberry, violets, and wild herbs lead the way in this bold yet lifted wine. The 2023 Meevaller shows both the rugged character of Mourvèdre and Kleinood’s signature finesse.

Light yet layered – a real surprise

nice balance of fresh fruit—mainly cherries and strawberries—that makes it easy to drink. What I really liked was how smooth it feels, with just the right amount of spice and oak to keep things interesting without overpowering the fruit. It’s definitely a versatile wine that’s not too heavy but still has enough depth to keep me coming back for another glass. Perfect for a casual evening with some grilled meats.
