DESCRIPTION
This wine pays homage to the rich terroir of Roussillon. Located in the south-western part of France, near the Spanish border, this land breathes the fragrances of the Mediterranean sea. They are harvested by hand, at peak ripeness, then sorted grain by grain. They are then macerated in new oak casks, made by the best stave cutters in France. This blend of Grenache Noir (65%), Syrah (27%) and Carignan (3%) is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. The bouquet is highly complex with aromas of red fruit, blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherries. On the palate, the attack is generous, full-bodied, and expressive, while the tannins remain suave and refined. This wine lingers in the mouth and reveals hints of scrubland, licorice and cacao in its final notes. This is a gastronomical wine, with a great ageing potential (more than 20 years), but it can be opened around the fifth year mark. This wine pairs well with sauce-forward dishes and red meats but also with Roquefort cheese.

Languedoc Roussillon is one of the largest wine regions in France, on the border with Spain. Its size goes hand in hand with a remarkable diversity of soils and terroirs, all bathed in a warm, sunny Mediterranean climate that is especially favourable to vines. This richness also shows in the grapes grown, from Cabernet Sauvignon to Carignan for reds, and from Grenache Blanc to Bourboulenc for whites.
Roussillon in particular also stands out for a historic, deeply local speciality: vins doux naturels (VDN). Made from grapes such as Grenache, Macabeu and Muscat, these wines are fortified during fermentation to keep part of their natural sugars. Iconic appellations such as Banyuls, Maury, Rivesaltes and Muscat de Rivesaltes offer an incredible range of styles, from the fruitiest to the most oxidative, perfect as an aperitif or with cheese and desserts.
