DESCRIPTION
In Valeyrac, in the northern Médoc, between the ocean and the estuary, Château Bellerive produces a wine with character on gravelly and clay soils.
Château Bellerive is managed by Christophe Gouache. Its 15.5 hectares sit on gravel mixed with clay and limestone, over an alios subsoil. The vines have an average age of 38 years and are planted at a density of 8,000 vines per hectare.
This 2018 is primarily Merlot, which gives it its roundness, complemented by Cabernets, which provide its structure. It features notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and blackberry, a touch of violet and licorice, and fine, silky tannins. It is a wine that is both generous and balanced, ready to drink now and capable of aging for several more years.
