Mondeuse is the historical and identity red grape variety of Savoie, capable of producing wines of great character. The cuvée "La Somptueuse" from Domaine des Anges lives up to its name, seeking to reveal the most elegant and refined facet of this often rustic grape variety, on soils that give it a unique identity.

Vinified with care to tame Mondeuse's natural tannins, this cuvée undergoes a maceration that extracts intense purple color and black fruit aromas while preserving suppleness. The 2023 vintage reveals itself to be particularly harmonious, offering a silky texture even in its youth.

The wine offers a beautiful entry on the palate on black fruits (morello cherry, blackcurrant), at once silky and balanced. The tannins are fine and the beautiful length is carried by an almost southern aromatic freshness, evoking sage, lavender, and thyme. It will sublimate a confit lamb shank, a vegetable tian with olives, or a well-aged Tomme cheese.
