From Mas de Lavail, awarded Roussillon Winemaker of the Year 2026 by the Guide Hachette, this Initiale 2022 reflects the excellence of an exceptional terroir in Maury, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Farmed organically out of a deep passion for the land, this cuvée won over the Hachette jury with its unique personality.
Tasting notes: On the nose, an expressive and intense bouquet reveals aromas of menthol, cocoa, balsamic notes and stewed dark fruits. On the palate, velvety tannins combine with a beautiful freshness to create a truly memorable wine. Rich, complex and perfectly structured, this Roussillon red expresses the full generosity of the Maury terroir.
Food pairings: Sublime with duck breast with figs, a herb-crusted roast beef or a traditional cassoulet.

Languedoc Roussillon is one of the largest wine regions in France, on the border with Spain. Its size goes hand in hand with a remarkable diversity of soils and terroirs, all bathed in a warm, sunny Mediterranean climate that is especially favourable to vines. This richness also shows in the grapes grown, from Cabernet Sauvignon to Carignan for reds, and from Grenache Blanc to Bourboulenc for whites.
Roussillon in particular also stands out for a historic, deeply local speciality: vins doux naturels (VDN). Made from grapes such as Grenache, Macabeu and Muscat, these wines are fortified during fermentation to keep part of their natural sugars. Iconic appellations such as Banyuls, Maury, Rivesaltes and Muscat de Rivesaltes offer an incredible range of styles, from the fruitiest to the most oxidative, perfect as an aperitif or with cheese and desserts.
