History
The Rivesaltes Ambré 1976 Cuvée Aimé Cazes pays tribute to Aimé Cazes, the guiding figure of the family estate. Located in the heart of Roussillon between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, Maison Cazes has been cultivating its 220 hectares of vineyards on clay-limestone soils dotted with schist and siliceous pebbles since 1895. Today, the estate is fully certified in organic and biodynamic agriculture.
Vinification
Made from Grenache Blanc, Gris, and Macabeu, this exceptional vintage was vinified according to the tradition of Vins Doux Naturels: mutage on the grapes followed by extended oxidative aging in oak casks for over 20 years. This patient maturation results in a rare and timeless wine.
Tasting Notes
The golden color with copper highlights opens onto a refined nose of bitter orange, dried apricot, and creamy coconut. On the palate, the balance is masterful: full, silky, and harmonious, enriched with notes of honeyed tobacco, freshly cut hay, and a hint of citrus on the finish. A true masterpiece, universally praised by critics: 3 stars Coup de Cœur Hachette, 18/20 RVF, 19/20 Bettane & Desseauve, 98/100 Le Figaro Vins. Best enjoyed at 10–12 °C, either on its own as an aperitif or digestif, or paired with foie gras, blue cheeses, or desserts featuring dried fruits and chocolate.

France
Bruno Cazes – Oenologist and Artisan of the Great Wines of Roussillon
It is a legendary vintage: a perfect balance between power and freshness, the emotion is immediate.
