Maury Tuilé Vieille Reserve 2000, Vignerons de Maury
Maury Tuilé Vieille Reserve 2000, Vignerons de Maury
History
Founded in 1910, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative embodies the soul of the Agly Valley, in the heart of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Surrounded by black schist and bathed in Mediterranean sunlight, its 200 winemakers continue the tradition of natural sweet wines. This Vieille Réserve 2000 showcases this century-old expertise, from a rich and expressive vintage, now elevated by two decades of aging.
Vinification
Harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes—dominated by Grenache—underwent long maceration to extract color and aromatic intensity. Mutage, which stops fermentation, preserves the grapes’ natural sugars. This is followed by patient oxidative aging in casks and old oak barrels, developing the typical rancio nuances: walnut, coffee, cocoa, dried fruits, and spices.
Tasting Notes
The tawny robe with mahogany highlights announces a broad and refined wine. The nose reveals deep aromas of prune, fig, cocoa, and dried fruits, accented by a hint of roasted coffee. On the palate, it is silky and generous, balancing sweetness and freshness, with a long, harmonious finish. Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate fondant, dried fruit tart, blue cheese, or even roasted duck breast. Serve slightly chilled (12–14 °C).
