Casarena Appellation Agrelo Malbec 2023 is made from 100% Malbec from the Agrelo parcels in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Hand-harvested and destemmed, this 2023 vintage is aged for 12 months in second and third-use French oak barrels. On the nose, it displays notes of violet and red and black fruits, and offers a dense palate where fruit concentration blends with nuances of tobacco and spices. Casarena, founded in 2008, showcases the clay terroirs of Agrelo with a sustainable approach.
The palate presents an elegant tannic structure, beautiful density, and well-integrated tannins for a long and elegant finish. It pairs perfectly with a grilled ribeye steak with Herbs de Provence or a chorizo pizza. Aging potential of 5 to 8 years.
Argentina
Mendoza is the largest wine-producing region in Argentina. Located on a high plateau on the edge of the Andes, the province is responsible for approximately 70% of the country's annual wine production. The French grape variety Malbec has its New World home in the vineyards of Mendoza, producing red wines of great concentration and intensity. While Malbec is undoubtedly the star of the region, there are also numerous plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Torrontes and Sauvignon Blanc.
Anne Sarine - Local Nose
This Malbec, with its classic Agrelo profile of violet and black fruits, is elegant without being austere.
