Casas de Bucalemu Salinas Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is inspired by the ancient salt pans of Bucalemu, located near the vineyards, which during colonial times were the sole source of salt for Santiago. This cuvée is crafted from Sauvignon Blanc on clay-limestone soils of the D.O. Rocas de Santo Domingo appellation, Leyda, 9 km from the Pacific, aged for 12 months in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Casas de Bucalemu is a historic estate initially owned by the Jesuits until 1778 and has remained in the same family ever since. Established in 1858 in the Santo Domingo Valley, 9 km from the Pacific, the current vineyards were planted in 2008. The estate practices organic and manual viticulture on mineral-rich limestone soils.
On the nose, saline and marine aromas, combined with notes of citrus and white flowers, with a touch of Mediterranean herbs and flint. On the palate, a lively freshness with a tense acidity, the intense minerality evoking flavors of iodine, flint, and chalk. It pairs well with oysters with ginger and lime or a white fish tartare with sesame oil. Aging potential of 10 years and more.
Chile
Located north of the Maipo Valley and stretching almost 100 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean to the foothills of the Andes, the Aconcagua region offers one of the widest ranges of terroirs in Chile. It is divided into three subregions with very distinct characters. The Aconcagua Valley, furthest east, enjoys warmer conditions and high altitude vineyards that produce Cabernet Sauvignon of lovely depth and Syrah that is both intense and nuanced. Further west, the Casablanca Valley has become the Chilean benchmark for cool climate wines, with bright, mineral Sauvignon Blanc, very precise Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with character. Finally, the San Antonio Valley, even closer to the ocean, is the coolest and most promising frontier of the region, led in particular by the vineyards of Leyda. From Andean warmth to Pacific sea breezes, Aconcagua is a region on the rise, made for lovers of wines that are both expressive and elegant.

An impressive minerality that is rarely found in a Sauvignon Blanc.
