DESCRIPTION
Otronia Chardonnay 2021 comes from a careful selection of plots 3 and 6 of the Paico vineyard in southern Patagonia. Harvested in early March, the grapes are pressed directly without destemming to preserve the finesse of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in untoasted French oak barrels, followed by 22 months of ageing in barrels. Alcohol 13%, pH 3.03, TA 7.35, residual sugar 2.42 g/L. The Otronia estate, founded in 2008 in Sarmiento, Chubut, Argentina, was born in a region with no established vines. Led by winemaker Juan Pablo Murgia, it met with immediate success from its first harvest in 2017. The estate maintains an organic approach and adapts to the climatic challenges of the region. Otronia is now recognised as the leading producer of Chubut, in Patagonia.
On the nose, a precise nose mingling ripe citrus, fresh apple and white flowers, with subtle notes of wet stone and hazelnut. On the palate, taut and vertical, driven by vibrant acidity, a silky texture and a long, saline and elegant finish. It pairs with pan-fried scallops in lemon butter or roasted sea bass with citrus emulsion. Ageing potential of 5 years.

Malbec, the king grape variety, offers a fresher and more elegant style there than in the rest of the country, alongside Pinot Noir, Merlot and crystalline whites.
