Cognac Lhéraud Bons Bois 1968

🇫🇷 Bons Bois | Nouvelle Aquitaine  | France

The Story

Founded in 1810 in Angeac, Maison Lhéraud embodies the artisanal excellence of Charentais cognac. Faithful to the family tradition, it crafts vintage cognacs of rare authenticity, distilled in a Charentais still and naturally aged in its blonde stone cellars. The 1968 vintage, sourced from the Bons Bois cru, reflects the patient expertise of a house that allows time to shape perfection.

The Vinification

Distilled in 1968, this Bons Bois Cognac has aged for many years in Limousin oak barrels, with no additives or reduction. The maritime terroir of the Bons Bois cru imparts a personality to the eau-de-vie (spirit) that is both fruity and saline. The slow interaction between the wood and the cognac has enriched its texture and revealed deep aromas of dried fruits, sweet spices, and fine rancio, enhanced by woody and slightly smoky touches.

The Tasting

The amber color with mahogany reflections heralds an ample and velvety palate. The initial notes evoke dried fruits, leather, and precious wood, before giving way to nuances of sweet spices, cocoa, and candied orange peel. A smoky and mentholated touch, reminiscent of eucalyptus and a wood fire, extends the tasting experience. The balance between power and freshness marks a long, warm, and persistent finish. An exceptional cognac, to be savored slowly, between emotion and silence.
