Domaine Nico Grand Mère Pinot Noir 2023 comes from a 2-hectare parcel planted in 2013 in Villa Bastías, Tupungato, in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, at an altitude of 1,120 meters. On clay soils with surface gravel and a subsoil of alluvial stones covered in limestone, this 100% Pinot Noir is aged for 8 months (40% in 20 hL oak foudres, 60% in third-use barrels), with 20% whole clusters. Laura Catena thus pays tribute to her grandmother with this elegant cru.
The nose opens with aromas of cherries and strawberries, then reveals notes of black fruits and a spicy touch of black pepper and cinnamon. The acidity is medium, with a horizontal palate and beautiful finesse. To be enjoyed with delicate red meats or mushrooms.
Argentina
Mendoza is the largest wine-producing region in Argentina. Located on a high plateau on the edge of the Andes, the province is responsible for approximately 70% of the country's annual wine production. The French grape variety Malbec has its New World home in the vineyards of Mendoza, producing red wines of great concentration and intensity. While Malbec is undoubtedly the star of the region, there are also numerous plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Torrontes and Sauvignon Blanc.
Katja - Local Nose
This light and fragrant Pinot, with notes of cherry and peony, is best enjoyed chilled, with pleasure.
