History
Founded around 1850, Domaine de La Coume du Roy has embodied the soul of the great natural sweet wines of Roussillon for six generations. This 1932 vintage, one of the oldest preserved in the family cellars, predates the upheavals of history. Each sip offers a journey of more than 90 years, shaped by the patience and expertise of a family safeguarding treasures.
Vinification
Made from Grenache, this Maury Doré was vinified by mutage on the skins to preserve the grape’s natural sweetness. It then underwent long oxidative aging in old oak casks and glass demijohns, where slow evaporation—the “angel’s share”—concentrated its intensity and forged its inimitable character.
Tasting Notes
Its amber color with mahogany highlights announces rare depth. The nose opens with aromas of walnut, dried fruits, and cocoa, lifted by notes of coffee and noble rancio. On the palate, it unfolds with velvety richness, balanced by surprising freshness for its age. The long, persistent finish makes it an ideal wine for meditation, to be savored on its own or paired with chocolate desserts, candied fruits, or powerful blue cheeses.
