Maury Tuilé Vieille Reserve 1997, Vignerons de Maury
Maury Tuilé Vieille Reserve 1997, Vignerons de Maury
History
Since 1910, the Vignerons de Maury have cultivated the art of natural sweet wines on the black schist soils of the Agly Valley. As a pioneering cooperative, they have preserved the heritage of the Vieilles Réserves while revealing the unique character of each vintage. The 1997 vintage reflects a generous year, producing a tawny Maury with remarkable aromatic intensity and depth.
Vinification
Made predominantly from Grenache, this wine is vinified according to the traditional VDN method: grapes harvested at full ripeness, long maceration, mutage with grape spirit to preserve natural sweetness, followed by extended oxidative aging in old casks and barrels. This patient aging gives the wine its unique patina and rancio nuances.
Tasting Notes
The tawny robe with mahogany highlights signals a wine of fine maturity. The nose reveals aromas of toasted nuts, candied orange peel, fine leather, and mocha. On the palate, the texture is silky, with breadth combining dried fruits, oriental spices, and a subtle smoky touch. The finish stretches elegantly with notes of brown caramel and bitter cocoa. This 1997 pairs beautifully with duck breast with figs, chocolate mousse, or aged cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort.
