History
This 1970 Rivesaltes Ambré wonderfully illustrates the heritage of Roussillon’s natural sweet wines, born between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. Made from old vines of White Grenache, Grey Grenache, and Macabeu, this rare vintage reflects half a century of patience and expertise. Winner of numerous awards, including 3 stars Coup de Cœur Hachette and 4.5★ on Vivino, it embodies the excellence of the Arnaud de Villeneuve house.
Vinification
Hand-harvested and destemmed, the grapes are directly pressed before traditional white vinification. Fermentation is halted by mutage on the must, and the wine then ages slowly in concrete tanks, large casks, and barrels. This long and careful aging has shaped a wine of rare complexity and remarkable depth.
Tasting Notes
The deep amber color with orange highlights signals a wine of character. The powerful nose unfolds aromas of rancio, coffee, turmeric, and toasted woody notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and harmonious, combining dried fruits, nuts, dried apricot, and a hint of aged cognac. The finish, fresh and persistent, prolongs the pleasure.
An exceptional Rivesaltes, ideal with a chocolate dessert or to enjoy at the end of a meal as a contemplative wine.
France
