Vernaccia di San Gimignano is often cited in numerous artistic works, including those of Dante and Sante Lancerio. The aroma of this wine is refined and delicate, with fruity and floral notes, while the palate is dry, balanced and full of flavour. The almond aroma at the end is very characteristic. To be enjoyed with vegetables or fish and white meat dishes.

Tuscany is Italy's third most vine-planted region (behind Sicily and Apulia) but it is eighth in terms of output, reflecting both its poor soil and deliberate efforts to limit yields but increase the quality of the wine. After Piedmont and Veneto, Tuscany produces the third-highest volume of DOC/DOCG wines. More than 80% of the regions' production is in red wine, with the Sangiovese grape being Tuscany's' most prominent grape.
