Vieil Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 1925

🇫🇷 Bas Armagnac | Nouvelle Aquitaine  | France

The Story

Founded over a century ago in Lannepax, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Baron Gaston Legrand embodies the noblest soul of Gascony. This 1925 vintage, hand-distilled and aged for nearly a century in oak barrels, bears witness to an unaltered expertise. Since 1998, the Lhéraud family has perpetuated this rare heritage, safeguarding a collection of historic vintages that make every bottle a true piece of history.

The Vinification

Distilled at a low proof according to the traditional method, this Vieil Armagnac rested for decades in Gascon oak barrels, where time shaped its balance. The prolonged aging has slowly softened the structure, concentrated the aromas, and revealed a noble rancio, typical of great Bas-Armagnacs. The mention "Vieil Armagnac" certifies aging of at least ten years, but here, it is nearly a century of patience that gives this eau-de-vie its depth and silky texture.

The Tasting

The Vieil Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 1925 opens with a captivating bouquet of mellowed wood, fresh nut, and candied fruits, enriched with nuances of vanilla, cocoa, and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is ample/full and velvety, carried by remarkable complexity and controlled sweetness. The long and noble finish deploys accents of rancio, old oak, and blond honey. An exceptional eau-de-vie, a living reflection of a century of Gascon tradition.
