Viu Manent Secret Malbec 2023 comes from the El Olivar vineyard, near Peralillo in the Colchagua Valley, blending 85% Malbec with a secret blend. The 2023 vintage, marked by warm conditions with summer heatwaves, allowed for a fast and homogeneous ripening while retaining a beautiful natural freshness. Vinified in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and gentle extractions, and partially aged (19%) in French oak barrels. Viu Manent is a family-owned house founded in 1935, renowned for its wines from the Colchagua Valley. The acquisition of its three vineyards in Colchagua in 1960, including San Carlos de Cunaco, the cradle of centenarian Malbec vines, forged the estate's identity. Today managed by the third generation and certified vegan, Viu Manent has been ranked among the World's Best Vineyards for seven consecutive years.
On the nose, intense aromas of red and black fruits, accompanied by a subtle mineral touch evoking graphite. On the palate, fresh and balanced, with firm yet silky tannins, offering a beautiful texture and a long, persistent finish. It pairs well with a beef cottage pie (parmentier) or duck confit with sarladaise potatoes. Serve between 14 and 16°C. Aging potential of 5 years.
