The Story
Since 1810, Maison Cognac Lhéraud has perpetuated a tradition of excellence in the art of vintage cognac in Angeac. Established in the heart of the Charentais terroir, it crafts uncompromising eaux-de-vie (spirits), distilled in a Charentais still and naturally aged in its blonde stone cellars. This 1976 vintage, sourced from the prestigious Grande Champagne cru, is an ode to time and precision: a distinguished cognac of timeless elegance.
The Vinification
Distilled in 1976, this cognac has benefited from prolonged aging in oak barrels, allowing for gentle and natural micro-oxygenation. The chalky terroir of the Grande Champagne confers finesse, balance, and typicity on the spirits. The floral aromas (hawthorn, acacia), the notes of dried fruits and spices, and the exotic touches of stewed mango, coconut, and passion fruit develop with depth, offering a refined and harmonious cognac.
The Tasting
The deep amber color precedes a complex bouquet of white flowers, dried fruits, and spices. On the palate, the silky texture and present tannins support a long and elegant finish. The tasting reveals a perfect harmony, typical of Grande Champagne vintages, combining power and refinement. This cognac is ideal for tasting or for cellaring for connoisseurs of great vintages.
REGION
Nouvelle-Aquitaine
France
Nouvelle-Aquitaine is the largest wine region in France, stretching from Poitiers to Pau through iconic areas such as Bordeaux, Cognac, Agen and Bergerac. It holds an exceptional diversity of terroirs, backed by centuries of winemaking and distilling know how, making it the birthplace of some of the most renowned spirits in the world.
In the north, in Charente and Charente Maritime, they make the famous Cognac, double distilled from white wines, and Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine blending grape must and young cognac, loved for its freshness and roundness.
Further south, in the Gers, the Landes and Lot et Garonne, they produce Armagnac, the oldest brandy in France. Traditionally distilled in a continuous still, it comes from three areas: Haut Armagnac, Ténarèze and Bas Armagnac. These three terroirs sit on the Lannemezan alluvial fan, an ancient soil of sand, clay and pebbles from the erosion of the Pyrenees. They give expressive, elegant and nuanced brandies, with aromas of ripe fruit, sweet spice and dried fruit, revealed as they age in cask.

A stunning French whisky, rounded and smooth, with a subtle smokiness in the background reminiscent of charred casks. A lovely length.
