A pioneer in the low-intervention field, William Downie has been producing wines for his own label since 2003. William Downie wines are always true expressions of their region, brimming with personality, and this Pinot Noir is no exception. Aromatic and balanced, the palate combines typical Pinot fruit notes of blackberry, cherry and raspberry with spices and earthiness. A dense and dark palate is brightened by fruitiness and gentle tannins - a showstopping example of a natural Mornington peninsula (that's near Melbourne) Pinot Noir done right. A perfect fit for a cheese platter, a charcuterie board or grilled meats.

The Gippsland region is located in the southern part of Australia, to the east of the Melbourne suburbs in the state of Victoria. The total vineyard area covers 187ha and harvests mostly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. This region has a number of microclimates, which contribute to the elegance and structure of the various styles of grape cultivated in the area. The white wines are particularly aromatic. Meanwhile, the south of Gippsland Pinot Noir is known throughout Australia as being one of the best on the market. While its attack is fine, there is a length and intensity to it.
