Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir 2020 is an iconic Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley, crafted from hand-harvested grapes and fermented with natural yeasts. Aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which were new. pH 3.34, total acidity 5.6 g/L, alcohol 12.5%. A perfect harmony between refined elegance and intense tasting pleasure. Innocent Bystander was founded in 2004 by Phil Sexton in the Yarra Valley, focusing on Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. Selecting the finest vineyards, he aimed to create an all-encompassing wine destination complete with a renowned restaurant and boutique. The wines quickly became benchmarks in the Yarra Valley, embodying fruit brilliance, freshness, and delicacy, meticulously vinified using manual harvesting and natural yeasts. Since 2016, Brown Brothers has preserved the estate's founding style.
On the nose, blueberry, blackberry, cherry, and spices. On the palate, balanced and fresh with a good length and silky tannins. It pairs with duck ragu pasta or a mushroom pizza. Serve between 14 and 16°C. Aging potential of 5 years.
Australia
The Yarra Valley is a well-respected Australian wine region that occupies the eastern half of the Port Phillip viticultural zone, in the diminutive state of Victoria. At complete odds with the usual, hot and dry Shiraz-growing image of Australia, Yarra Valley is best known for its bright, complex wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Aromas of crushed strawberries and red currants lead into a soft, supple palate with hints of dried herbs and gentle oak. Fresh, clean, and full of personality.
This 2020 Pinot Noir is lively and expressive, with notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, and a touch of spice. Light-bodied with silky tannins and vibrant acidity—it’s pure Yarra Valley charm in a glass.
Smooth and fruity, this Pinot surprised me. Light-bodied but not thin, with raspberry and cherry notes and a faint herbal edge. Great value for money—perfect with grilled chicken or mushroom risotto.
William - Local Nose
I really liked this Pinot for its gourmand side and its red fruit aromas. The texture is silky with lovely freshness. A balanced wine that will pair perfectly with roast poultry.
