Casarena Owen's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 comes from a selection of the best parcels within the Owen vineyard, a pergola system of centenary vines planted in 1930 in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, on clay soils. Hand-harvested, it benefits from 12 months of aging in French oak barrels following cold macerations lasting 7 to 10 days and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Casarena, founded in 2008, carefully protects this historic viticultural heritage.
On the nose, aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black tea, and coffee notes integrated by the wood. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with round tannins and a juicy finish. Perfect with a beef stir-fry with bell peppers or pasta with wild mushrooms and truffle. Aging potential of 10 years and more.
Argentina
Mendoza is the largest wine-producing region in Argentina. Located on a high plateau on the edge of the Andes, the province is responsible for approximately 70% of the country's annual wine production. The French grape variety Malbec has its New World home in the vineyards of Mendoza, producing red wines of great concentration and intensity. While Malbec is undoubtedly the star of the region, there are also numerous plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Torrontes and Sauvignon Blanc.
