Casas de Bucalemu Fosiles Pinot Noir 2020 captures the richness of the terroir just 9 km from the sea on marine clay-limestone soils and with a strong influence from ocean salinity. The organic-certified vineyards are located in the D.O. Rocas de Santo Domingo, Leyda appellation. The wine is aged in French oak foudres. Casas de Bucalemu is a historic estate initially owned by the Jesuits until 1778 and has remained in the same family ever since. Established in 1858 in the Santo Domingo Valley, 9 km from the Pacific, the current vineyards were planted in 2008. The estate practices organic and manual viticulture on mineral-rich limestone soils.
On the nose, red fruits like strawberry and cherry, accompanied by earthy and mineral notes that evoke the marine terroir. On the palate, a fresh and lively attack, with a silky texture and fine tannins that bring a delicate elegance. It pairs well with duck with cherries or a wild mushroom and aged parmesan risotto. Serve between 10 and 12°C. Aging potential of 20 years.
