The Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2021 from the Poderi Colla family embodies all the elegance of Piedmont. Since 1703, this historic estate has passionately cultivated its vineyards at Cascine Drago, a rare and exclusive terroir located on the border of Barbaresco, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme.
Made from a hand-selected harvest, this Italian red wine is vinified as a single varietal and aged for approximately 12 months in oak barrels. Its intense garnet color reveals complex aromas of ripe red fruits, plum, violet, and dried rose, accented by a subtle touch of spices. On the palate, it offers a harmonious structure, round tannins, and a persistent finish.
A true expression of Nebbiolo d’Alba, it pairs perfectly with fresh meat-filled pasta, porcini risotto, or a grilled ribeye. With a cellaring potential of 5 to 8 years, it will delight both lovers of classic Italian wines and those seeking a refined red.
Italy
Piedmont is one of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions, especially renowned for its red wines made from Nebbiolo and Barbera grapes. Nebbiolo, the region’s emblematic varietal, is the source of its most celebrated wines, including the iconic Barolo and Barbaresco.
Both made from 100% Nebbiolo, these wines stand out for their distinct styles. Barolo is powerful and structured, with a deep, full-bodied palate built for aging. Barbaresco, more approachable in its youth, charms with its elegance and brightness. Two expressions of the same grape, shaped by exceptional terroirs.
This Nebbiolo offers ripe raspberry and sour cherry notes, balanced by hints of anise, earth, and dried herbs. It's medium-bodied with firm but polished tannins—a graceful, food-friendly red with depth and tension.
Poderi Colla’s 2021 Nebbiolo d’Alba is a textbook expression of the grape—fragrant with rose petals, red cherry, and subtle spice. On the palate, it’s vibrant and linear, with fine tannins and refreshing acidity. Classic Piedmont charm in a more approachable style.
Light yet expressive. Red cherry, rose petals, and a hint of licorice. I had it with mushroom risotto and it brought out the wine’s earthiness beautifully. Great value for money for a Nebbiolo this refined.
