The Story
Founded over a century ago in Lannepax, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Baron Gaston Legrand embodies the noblest soul of Gascony. This 1950 vintage, hand-distilled and aged for nearly a century in oak barrels, bears witness to an unaltered expertise. Since 1998, the Lhéraud family has perpetuated this rare heritage, safeguarding a collection of historic vintages that make every bottle a true piece of history.
The Vinification
This Vieil Armagnac is made from the Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Baco Blanc grape varieties. Distilled at a low proof in a traditional still, it has aged extensively in oak barrels, allowing for progressive micro-oxygenation. This process has softened the alcohol, concentrated the aromas, and developed a unique aromatic complexity. The prolonged aging has imparted woody and vanilla notes, with subtle nuances of candied fruits and sweet spices, revealing the finesse and elegance typical of great Bas-Armagnacs.
The Tasting
The Vieil Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 1950 unveils a refined nose of dried fruits, prune, and caramel, enriched with delicate touches of cinnamon and honey. On the palate, the eau-de-vie is round, ample/full, and velvety, with a perfect harmony between sweetness and structure. The finish is long and persistent, revealing accents of noble rancio and old wood, a symbol of the exceptional patience and expertise of Maison Baron Gaston Legrand.

France
