Quinta da Romaneira Colheita Tawny Port 2009 comes from an exceptional vintage for the Douro. This Colheita is a refined blend combining 40% Touriga Franca, 30% Touriga Nacional, 15% Tinto Cão and 15% Tinta Roriz, aged 3 years in 640L French oak vats. It retains a freshness characteristic of the finest Colheita years while developing great complexity and aromatic richness. In the heart of the Douro Valley, Quinta da Romaneira embodies history and viticultural excellence. Already celebrated in the 19th century, this iconic estate entered a new era in 2004 thanks to a group of passionate investors, including Christian Seely, director of the Axa Millésimes properties including the renowned Quinta do Noval. Under the visionary direction of Seely and Antonio Agrellos, one of Portugal's most award-winning winemakers, the property has regained its former glory. Its 85 hectares of terraced vineyards on schist soils reveal the finest red grape varieties of the Douro, with Touriga Nacional covering nearly 40% of the vineyard.
On the nose, complex aromas of dried fruits, nuts and subtle woody touches. On the palate, sweet and velvety, with beautiful fruity richness and a long and pleasant finish. It pairs with walnut-based desserts or aged cheeses. Serve between 9 and 12°C. Ageing potential of 30 years and more.
