History
The NSCR (Nouvelle Société de la Côte Radieuse), founded in 2006 in Rivesaltes, has established itself as a specialist in old vintages of Vins Doux Naturels. With this Maury Traditionnel 1965, it presents an exceptional vintage, reflecting half a century of history and the black schist terroir of the Agly Valley, the birthplace of Grenache.
Vinification
Made predominantly from Grenache, this wine was crafted using the ancestral method of mutage on the grapes: fermentation is halted by the addition of grape spirit to preserve the natural sweetness of the fruit. This was followed by a long oxidative aging in old foudres and oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop rare and sought-after evolving notes.
Tasting Notes
After sixty years of aging, this Maury reveals a deep brick-red color. The nose combines cocoa, coffee, stewed dark fruits, and dried fruits. On the palate, it is broad and silky, expressing elegance and warmth, with a persistent finish of noble rancio. A wine for meditation, ideal to enjoy with a square of dark chocolate, aged blue cheeses, or as a digestif to mark a special moment.
Italie
