History
Founded in 1910 in the heart of the Agly Valley, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative has embodied the soul of Vins Doux Naturels for over a century. Bringing together nearly 200 winemakers, it relies on black schist soils and expertise passed down through generations. With its collection of Vieilles Réserves, the cellar has become a true benchmark of the Maury appellation, especially for lovers of rare vintages. The 2001 vintage, generally balanced across Roussillon, expresses remarkable depth after more than twenty years of maturation.
Vinification
Made mainly from Grenache Noir harvested at optimal ripeness, this wine follows the traditional VDN method: long maceration on the skins to extract color and body, followed by mutage with grape spirit to preserve some of the natural sugars. Oxidative aging in old casks and barrels lasted many years, developing complex rancio aromas and a silky texture.
Tasting Notes
The deep tawny robe announces a rich and refined nose, combining candied fruits, cocoa, roasted coffee, and toasted walnuts. On the palate, it is broad and velvety, balanced between sweetness and freshness, with a persistent finish featuring notes of fig, prune, and gentle spices. A contemplative wine, perfect with aged Roquefort, a walnut tart, or an intense chocolate dessert. Serve at 12–14 °C, decant if possible, and it can be kept for several weeks after opening.

Après le Piémont et la Vénétie, la Toscane produit le troisième plus grand volume de vins DOC/DOCG. Plus de 80 % de la production de la région est constituée de vins rouges, le Sangiovese étant le cépage le plus répandu en Toscane. Le Chianti, le Chianti Classico, le Brunello di Montalcino, le Vino Nobile di Montepulciano et le Super Tuscan sont les vins les plus connus de la Toscane. Le Trebbiano est le principal cépage blanc de la région.
