Nanny Goat Vineyard is the brainchild (or vinechild, if you will) of winemaker Alan Peters-Oswald, the Pinot Noir specialist. The name hails from the wild goats that roam the mountainous region of Central Otago, which is the most southerly wine region in the world and on New Zealand’s South Island. Block 13, the bio-organic vineyard in Queensberry, where this Chardonnay grows, is quite the special area, and you can taste it. This wine is an aromatic cocktail of ripe nectarine and vanilla poached apple. The palate is a lush hush of toasty oak and freshly baked pastries. With its long finish, this Chardonnay is begging to be paired with a ceviche, a salmon tartare or gnocchi in a sage brown butter sauce.
