The Vinification
Distilled at low proof according to the traditional method, this Bas Armagnac has aged slowly in Gascon oak barrels, whose natural porosity encourages subtle micro-oxygenation. The sandy-clay soils, rich in iron oxides (the famous sables fauves or tawny sands), give the eaux-de-vie from this region their supple structure and aromatic finesse. With more than sixty years of aging, this 1960 vintage illustrates the harmony between the power of the wood and the delicacy of the fruit.

La Gascogne, territoire historique du sud-ouest de la France s'étendant sur le Gers, les Landes et le Lot-et-Garonne, est le berceau de l'Armagnac, la plus ancienne eau-de-vie de France. L'Armagnac se décline en trois zones d'appellation distinctes : le Bas-Armagnac, reconnu comme le plus noble des crus avec ses sols sablo-argileux (sables fauves) qui confèrent finesse et élégance ; la Ténarèze, dont les sols argilo-calcaires produisent des armagnacs puissants et structurés ; et le Haut-Armagnac, aux sols argilo-calcaires plus durs.
