DESCRIPTION

This Gigondas from Maison Lavau originates from the cretaceous limestone plots on the foothills of the appellation. With northern exposure, these plots are the perfect partner for old vines of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The bouquet is full of the typical flavours of the Gigondas appellation like blackcurrant and raspberry jam. It is then intensified by notes of spice (black pepper and nutmeg). The palate is voluptuous, solid and long-lasting. To be paired with guinea fowl, a coq au vin, a beef stew or any spice-forward meal.

REGION

Rhône

France

A historic cradle of French winemaking, the Rhône stretches from Lyon to Provence and is home to over 5,000 estates. In the north, steep slopes produce Syrah of rare intensity (Côte Rôtie, Hermitage) and exceptional whites such as Condrieu, made from Viognier. Further south, the diversity of terroirs (rounded pebbles, sand, slopes) gives powerful, generous reds (Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas) based on Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. A great place for gastronomy, the region offers endless unforgettable food and wine pairings.
