This Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru La Maréchaude 2023 from Georges Dubœuf Wines is distinguished by its sparkling golden robe and remarkable presence, worthy of this prestigious Burgundian house's reputation. Coming from limited production, this exceptional wine continues the excellence of the 2022 vintage, which received 1 star in the 2025 Hachette Guide.
The nose is complex and elegant, revealing a delicate toasted oak that finely underlines aromatic fragrances of verbena and linden. On the palate, the barrel aging gives the wine a pulpy and rich texture, perfectly balanced by a vibrant freshness that extends into a finish with mouthwatering acidity.
This wonderful balance between power and finesse will express itself fully between 2025 and 2029. Served between 12 and 14°C, it will ideally accompany noble fish in sauce, creamy poultry, or pressed cheeses.
An exceptional 1st Cru to absolutely discover for lovers of great white Burgundy wines combining aromatic richness and mineral tension characteristic of the best Pouilly-Fuissé terroirs.
France
Burgundy, located in eastern France, is one of the world's most emblematic wine-growing regions, renowned for its elegant, fine and complex wines. Its semi-continental climate, marked by contrasting seasons, and its mineral-rich clay-limestone soils provide an exceptional terroir for its two king grape varieties: Pinot Noir for reds, and Chardonnay for whites. Alongside them, more discreet varieties such as Gamay and Aligoté complete the vineyard's diversity.
The vineyard stretches from the Chablisien in the north, known for its taut, mineral whites, to the Mâconnais in the south, offering accessible, gourmet cuvées. In between, the Côte de Nuits is the realm of great reds, while the Côte de Beaune excels in both reds and whites. The Côtes Chalonnaises complete the picture with wines offering excellent value for money.
Fresh lemon zest, green apple, and chalky minerality form a beautifully elegant palate. Lightly textured with vibrant acidity, this is a poised wine built for both early enjoyment and graceful aging.
La Maréchaude 2023 offers crystalline citrus, white florals, and a stony, saline backbone. A precise and lifted Chardonnay that speaks clearly of its limestone-rich terroir.
I was blown away by the layers of citrus, toasted nuts, and subtle vanilla. The oak aging is perfectly integrated, giving a smooth finish. A very classy wine that feels like great value for money in this price range.
