Tolpuddle Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 comes from the Coal River Valley in Tasmania, from vines planted in 1988. Hand-harvested, partially whole-bunch fermented, and aged with one-third in new barrels. It features 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.5, and 5.7 g/L of total acidity. Aging potential of 10 to 15 years.
On the nose, refined with ripe red and black fruits, accompanied by spiced notes and subtle minerality. On the palate, elegant and structured, supported by fine tannins, balanced freshness, and a long, harmonious finish. Pairs with roast duck breast or truffle risotto.
Australia
Tasmania is an Australian state located 199 km south-east of the mainland. The 42nd parallel, which crosses the country in the middle, makes this Australia’s coolest region. In terms of climate, as the ocean surrounds the island on all sides, it is both oceanic and temperate. Unlike their mainland counterparts, Tasmanian wines are not as full-bodied and warm. Similar to their European cousins, specifically the French and German, their vineyards are cool. In fact, the northern part of the island produces aromatic Rieslings and Pinot Gris and sparkling wines that just keep getting better and better. Meanwhile, the plains and the south of the island cultivate excellent Chardonnays, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.
Liz - Local Nose
A Pinot Noir of great elegance with aromas of cherries and undergrowth. The structure is fine with silky tannins. A remarkable wine from Tasmania.
