History

Since 1910, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative has embodied the soul of this Roussillon appellation. Located in the heart of the Agly Valley on sun-drenched black schist soils, it brings together 200 winemakers and produces the finest expressions of Maury. This 2005 vintage, classified as a “Vieille Réserve,” showcases the cooperative’s unique expertise, renowned for its long and patient aging that enhances the Grenache.

Vinification

Made primarily from Grenache harvested at high ripeness, this natural sweet wine was produced using the traditional method: long maceration on the skins, mutage with grape spirit to preserve the natural sugars, followed by extended oxidative aging in old barrels and casks. After nearly twenty years of maturation, the wine develops rare nuances of noble rancio, combining depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes

Its deep tawny color announces a wine of character. The nose captivates with intense aromas of candied black and red fruits, prune, cocoa, coffee, and toasted dried fruits. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced between richness, sweetness, and freshness, supported by a long, warm finish. Best enjoyed with dark chocolate fondant, walnut tart, aged Comté, or game birds. Serve slightly chilled (12–14 °C).
