Vincent Girardin, Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots 2018
Vincent Girardin, Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots 2018
This Vincent Girardin Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots 2018 embodies all the finesse of a fleshy and distinguished Pinot Noir, from an emblematic climat located near the famous Clos des Mouches. The name "Les Aigrots" reportedly comes from the Burgundian word for holly, which was once present on these lands. The terroir, consisting of clay-limestone soils on marl, benefits from a gentle and regular exposure, offering optimal grape ripening. The result is wines that are deep, elegant, and mineral, fully expressing the identity of their cru. Aged for 15 months in oak barrels, then blended in vats before bottling, this wine is not fined and only slightly filtered to preserve all its natural richness. The nose opens with notes of crunchy black fruits, ripe cherry, and subtle spicy touches. The palate is full, silky, supported by beautiful freshness and a long aromatic persistence. A wine of character and balance, to be enjoyed with a grilled ribeye steak, porcini mushroom risotto, osso buco, or mushroom pasta.
