History
This 1925 vintage celebrates its centenary in 2025. A true witness to another era, it embodies the memory of the Maury vineyard and the heritage of the Bachelet family, guardians of Domaine La Coume du Roy since the 19th century. These old Maury wines are “revealing secrets”: wines capable of transcending time and moving the soul with their intensity.
Vinification
Made exclusively from Grenache, this natural sweet wine was crafted using the traditional method of mutage on the skins, which preserves the grapes’ natural sugars and aromatic richness. After a long maceration, it underwent extended oxidative aging in old wood and glass demijohns, developing a noble rancio of rare depth. A hundred years of patience have shaped a nectar of extraordinary complexity.
Tasting Notes
Its dark mahogany hue, verging on amber, heralds remarkable aromatic power. The nose reveals evolved aromas of dried fruits, roasted coffee, caramel, and walnut, carried by the rancio typical of great Maury wines. On the palate, smoothness and depth combine in a persistent, captivating finish. More than a wine, this 1925 is a piece of heritage: a rare tasting experience to offer or to share as a suspended moment in history.
