Domaine Nico La Savante Pinot Noir 2023 comes from the Gualtallary vineyard in Tupungato, at an altitude of 1,450 meters, from a 1.44-hectare plot planted in 1994 (Dijon clones 115 and 777). Aged for 12 months in 10% first-use, 40% second-use, and 50% third-use barrels, exclusively in François Frères French oak. 50% whole clusters. Ultra-limited production of 7,223 bottles. Alcohol 13.2%, pH 3.35, TA 5.27. Domaine Nico is an artisanal Pinot Noir project established in Tupungato, in the Uco Valley, Mendoza. The vines, planted between 1993 and 2013 across high-altitude terroirs ranging from 1,120 to 1,450 meters, express the freshness and precision of limestone soils. Limited production and a non-interventionist approach, aged exclusively in François Frères French oak barrels.
On the nose, notes of red fruits and minerals, with a slight reduction, a touch of lemon, orange peel, and an earthy character. High acidity, low alcohol, vertical profile, and layered tannins. It pairs well with light gastronomic dishes or poultry with wild mushrooms. Aging potential of 8 to 12 years.
Argentina
Mendoza is the largest wine region in Argentina. Set on a high altitude plateau at the edge of the Andes, the province accounts for around 70% of the country's annual wine production. The French grape Malbec has found its New World home in the vineyards of Mendoza, producing red wines of great concentration and intensity. While Malbec is without doubt the star of the region, you will also find many plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Torrontés and Sauvignon Blanc.
William - Local Nose
This precise and tense Pinot, with a mineral finish, is a winemaker's wine, not made from a recipe.
