Luca Wines Old Vine Malbec 2021 is crafted from 80-year-old vines cultivated at an altitude of 1,000 meters in the Uco Valley, Mendoza. Created by Laura Catena, daughter of the pioneer Nicolas Catena, this wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 35% is new. It impresses with its concentration, intensity, and elegant freshness, supported by a ripe tannic structure and a persistent finish.
The aromatic profile reveals notes of black cherry, ripe red fruits, sweet spices, dark chocolate, and a touch of mocha. The attack on the palate is ample with beautiful density, balanced by a fresh acidity. The finish is long, savory, and dynamic. It beautifully accompanies braised beef tacos or a dry-aged ribeye steak. Aging potential of 10 years and more.
Argentina
Mendoza is the largest wine-producing region in Argentina. Located on a high plateau on the edge of the Andes, the province is responsible for approximately 70% of the country's annual wine production. The French grape variety Malbec has its New World home in the vineyards of Mendoza, producing red wines of great concentration and intensity. While Malbec is undoubtedly the star of the region, there are also numerous plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Torrontes and Sauvignon Blanc.
William - Local Nose
