Baettig Viña Los Parientes Chardonnay 2023 is an authentic expression of the Traiguén terroir, sourced from ancient volcanic soils in southern Chile. Born from a cool and singular season, it reveals the purity and minerality of volcanic soils, aged for 8 months in French oak barrels, of which 15% is new. The Baettig vineyard, located in Traiguén in southern Chile, was founded in 2013 by Swiss proprietors on a clay-granitic plateau. There, they planted 15 hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their artisanal approach, utilizing manual viticulture, indigenous yeasts, and delicate extraction, produces pure, lively, and fruity wines reflecting the region's vigorous climate and mineral soils. Baettig has thus transformed Traiguén into a recognized appellation, acclaimed by international critics.
On the nose, wet stones and a lemon zest. On the palate, very taut and textured, driven by a lively acidity. It pairs well with a scallop tartare with mango or ravioli with lemon and basil. Serve between 7 and 9°C. Aging potential of 5 years and more.
Chile
The Malleco region lies in southern Chile, representing the country's southernmost wine-growing area. With its cool Mediterranean climate and volcanic soils, this marginal climate region produces crisp and refreshing wines. Malleco Valley is the cradle of cool-climate varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which thrive perfectly in these fresh conditions. Sauvignon Blanc completes the grape mix, offering wines with bright acidity and fresh fruit flavors. This region challenges winemakers with demanding conditions but rewards with elegant and authentic wines.
William - Local Nose
This fresh and taut Chardonnay has a beautiful acidity and is not over-oaked—exactly what one looks for.
