DESCRIPTION
Bouchon Family Wines Block Series Carmenère 2024 comes from low-yielding selected grapes in the Maule Valley, on deep, granite-dominant soils rich in clay and silica. The warm, dry climate, tempered by cool nights, favors a beautiful aromatic intensity. Hand-harvesting, cold maceration, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and extended maceration yield a structured and elegant wine. Aging in French oak barrels brings complexity and roundness. The Bouchon saga began in 1887 with the arrival of Émile Bouchon in Chile. The family, established in the Colchagua region and later in the Maule region in 1977, perpetuates this history by breathing new life into old Maule grape varieties, such as País, rehabilitating centuries-old winemaking techniques, and paying close attention to the terroir. With three vineyards in Maule, the Bouchons adopt an organic approach, creating singular wines from vines grown without irrigation on ancient granitic soils.
On the nose, intense aromas of black cherry, plum, and wild berries, enhanced by fine spices such as black pepper, rosemary, and bay leaf.
On the palate, silky and concentrated, with a round texture and a long, harmonious finish. It pairs well with a traditional cassoulet or a confit shoulder of lamb with herbs. Serve between 16 and 18°C. Aging potential of 8 years and more.
