The Esprit from Maucoil is a labour of love, produced with the 13 grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Clairette, Bourboulenc, etc. This blend is produced with the oldest vines in the vineyard (70 years old on average) and from only the most exceptional vintages.
The bouquet’s aromas are quite intense. Notes of kirsch and strawberry jam are elevated by a hint of toast, giving the wine its complexity. On the palate, the tannins are polished and a cool taste highlights the black fruit and shrubland flavours. Ample and rich, this wine has an exceptional ageing potential (up to 15 years depending on the vintage). This wine pairs well with steak with a peppercorn sauce, couscous, or shrimp skewers.

France
The Rhône Valley is a historic cradle of French winemaking, stretching from Lyon to Provence and home to over 5,000 estates. In the north, steep hillsides yield intensely expressive Syrahs (Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage) and outstanding whites like Condrieu, made from Viognier. Further south, the diversity of soils—rolled pebbles, sand, and slopes—gives rise to powerful, generous reds (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas) based on Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. A gastronomic heartland, the region offers endless unforgettable food and wine pairings.
On l'a pris pour un barbecue, belle surprise.
Ce vin peut être apprécié dès maintenant, mais il continuera à se développer et à se bonifier au fil du temps, offrant une belle expérience à long terme pour les amateurs de vins de garde.
Notes of thyme, lavender, and ripe plum unfold with warmth and charm. Fine tannins and juicy acidity give it excellent drinkability now and in years to come.
Rich blackberry and black cherry fruit meet garrigue, licorice, and pepper spice. Full-bodied yet smooth, this bottle is a bold Rhône classic with superb balance.

A lot of freshness for a Châteauneuf, I was pleasantly surprised. The sweet spices and hint of garrigue are superb.
